The first step is to size the ducting system. If you are not a specialist installer or are uncertain please do not hesitate to contact us for advice. Nordfab frequently support customers who have never designed a ducting system – in fact QF ducting is a great choice of product because it is very easy to install, mainain and move without specialist skills, experience or equipment.
We can also advise on the configuration that’s best for optimal air flow. The chart below allows you to choose the correct duct size for the air volume that is required. Different materials need to be conveyed at different velocities to prevent the material from falling out of the air stream. For example, wood chips and saw dust flow well between 18 and 22 m/s.
Referring to the chart, a 100mm duct will convey 622 m³/h at 22 m/s. This indicates that a 100 mm pick-up on a machine will use 622 m³/h from the filtering system. Or working in reverse, if you know that a machine will require approximately 650 m³/h to remove the waste, then you should design a 100 mm duct for the application. It’s easy but only when you know how!
The quick fit QF clips and rubber O-rings mean the QF ducting system simply pushes together and snaps tight. It couldn’t be easier and access to move or clean the system in future is as easy as lifting the clamp to release it. However, if you are new to Nordfab ducting we suggest you call us to check the items you need before you order – though we try to do this on incoming orders as a matter of course anyway…
Slip ducts can be used to make connections at non-standard lengths simply and easily. The step-by-step installation graphic below (which is also included in the catalogue) shows you just how easy this is!
